The end of the year is approaching fast, but there are a still plenty of events at which to find business opportunities or to entertain yourself. Here are our picks for the week starting Monday, December 8th. Out of pure coincidence, all this week’s events are in Tokyo. If you know if some worthy events in Kansai or elsewhere in Japan, feel free to submit your event here.
1. Pink Cow Connections #123, Tuesday, Dec 9th
The Pink Cow is an institution among the foreign community in Tokyo. The PCC is held monthly, so as you can see by the number, this event has been going for a really long time! This week’s event sees three speakers – Scott Asahina, Greg Lane and Darren Menabney talk on “Discover How To Get More Leads, Increase Your Sales, Boost Your Profits And Grow Your Business Much Faster, Guaranteed..”, “The Challenges of Bootstrapping a Profitable Content Website” and “You’re Never Too Old to Pivot” respectively.

2. The 24th international Meeting Expo, Dec 9th – 10th
TIme to get meta – this is a meeting about meetings! Aimed at event organisers, this will see providers of all services vital to the success of events converging on one place. There will be systems providers, logistics, venues and everything in between. All the regional promotional agencies will also be there – from Hokkaido down to Okinawa. This is your chance to post on facebook that you are having a meeting at a meeting about meetings. Yep.
The venue is the handily central Tokyo International Forum. Our tip is to get there for “Happy Hour” from 5:45pm to 7pm on the 9th when all the regional exhibitors will be competing to stuff you with delicious regional food and drink.
3. Eco-Products 2014, Dec 11th – 13th
Perfectly timed to coincide with an enormous crash in the price of oil, Eco Products 2014 will be a showcase of green and ecologically friendly products. The event will be more than a marketing exercise with national and local governments, NPOs, NGOs, and educational institutes also in attendance to promote their environmental initiatives.
The event will take place at Tokyo Big Sight. Pre-registration is required, but entrance is free.
4. 2014 TRON Symposium and TRONSHOW, Dec 10th – 12th
The name alone should be enough to get you interested in this side by side conference and exposition. Held over three days at Tokyo Midtown starting on December 10th, the focus of this event is the ever so trendy “Internet of Things”. The symposium will be where all the talking is, whereas if you just want to gawk at the tech, then you’d be best to head to TRONSHOW.
Entry to the symposium is free with pre-registration.
5. TEDxYouth@Tokyo 2014, Sun, Dec 14th
